"Morley Wildkatzen"
Die Leoparden, Luchse und Tiger von Black Prince
Im Februar 1975 begrüßte Black Prince den ersten Leyland Leopard auf den Straßen von Morley, als VUB405H der Flotte beitrat, die von einer anderen berühmten Leeds-Busfirma stammte. Wallace Arnold.
Dieser stilvolle Reisebus, der 1970 gebaut und mit der damaligen Plaxton-Karosserie, dem Panorama Elite, ausgestattet wurde, läutete den Beginn der Großkatzen-Ära ein, als nicht weniger als 28 Leoparden, 4 Tiger und 3 Luchse durchfuhren die Flotte bei Black Prince zwischen 1975 und 2005.
Jede Maschine hat ihre eigene interessante Geschichte, aber hier präsentieren wir so interessante Fahrzeuge wie 4774NE, einen Royal Tiger Worldmaster, die Exportversion des Leopard und ECK885E, abgespeckt von Brian Crowther und Freunden in einer Scheune in der Nähe von Morley und überarbeitet von Plaxton!.
Während der Vorbereitung dieses Teils der Website war es erstaunlich, die schiere Vielfalt der von Black Prince betriebenen Leyland "Wildcats" zu sehen. This fine Leyland Leopard entered service with Black Prince in January 1982. The Leopard had been delivered in 1970, new to Western SMT as fleet number 2320. It carried the black and white WESTERN livery then acquired a red and cream version.
At Black Prince, the bus was painted into an attractive version of the then current fleet livery, with a different sort of fleetname consisting of letters from large to small with the white rose logo in between the two words BLACK@PRINCE.
745 remained in the fleet until September 1983, when it was withdrawn and disposed of, moving on to Geoff Ripley, Carlton (Bus Dealer)
