  • "Buses On The Cobbles"

EVENT DATE SUNDAY 7 JANUARY 2018 12:00-16:00 @ Morley Town Hall January 2018 will see huge changes to the bus stopping arrangements in Morley town centre. Early January will be the last chance to take photographs of buses pointing down the cobbled street towards Leeds, as the priority will be reversed and traffic will head up the cobbled street. bus stops will be abolished on the cobbles. It will also no longer be possible to photograph buses with Morley town hall in the background. I wish to put on a small afternoon event consisting of preserved buses posed for photographs around the town hall and running short trips in the local vicinity enabling classic photos to be recreated for the last time. • A Busy Christmas Day 2017

All the hype and it's gone in a flash!..Christmas 2017 has been and gone and I am really pleased to report that we enjoyed another very successful Christmas Day bus service for this year, with Mercedes-Benz 577 carrying a total of 65 passengers during the day-over its former route, the X51. During the morning, we transported several hospital staff to work at Jimmy's, returning them home later on in the evening. Lots of people came along for a festive bus ride, including a junior Black prince fan, aged 7, who, along with his mum, never misses a chance to ride on a red and yellow Black Prince bus!. We also played host to Councillor Noel Bullock of Morley TC, who duly videoed a whole round trip on the bus for all to see on the web!. It was great to see old staff members and bus enthusiasts having a ride, socialising or actually out on the street side taking photos and videos of our bus passing-I'll look forward to seeing those soon! To add to the passenger list, we were astonished to convey a group of friends who were on holiday from Hong Kong, travelling around in the UK on a two week bus/football stadium photography trip!.. It was fabulous to think they had travelled so far and ended up riding on a Black prince bus in Morley.. the lads really seemed to enjoy themselves and it was great to show them our preserved bus!. All the passengers really seemed to enjoy the offer of chocolates, cakes and Christmas crackers and after our last trip to Leeds, we used the bus to distribute Christmas cake, mince pies and chocolates to those less fortunate on the streets of Leeds who had nowhere to go for the evening. Again, everyone who used the special bus service was really appreciative and I extend my heartfelt thanks to all involved in making this FREE bus service possible for another year. See you all in 2018!.. #577 #Morley #MercedesBenz #BlackPrinceBuses

  • FREE Christmas Day Bus Service-X51

Season's Greetings Readers!.. Christmas 2017 is upon us and we have been very busy getting our preserved Black Prince bus trimmed up and prepared for our now annual Christmas Day FREE X51 bus service. The X51, a former Black Prince bus route from Morley Tingley Mills to Leeds City Centre will be operated throughout Christmas Day, serving all bus stops from Morley to Leeds and return, but with the service specially extended from the City Centre to run a non-stop circuit between the two Leeds hospitals, L.G.I and Jimmy's, providing a means for staff and visitors to access the hospitals free of charge. We offer our time as volunteers to provide this FREE bus service using our own privately preserved bus, so we really do hope it will help people get around on Christmas Day. In previous years, we have carried several hospital staff to and from duty, people visiting sick relatives and families who do not have the privilege of car use to link up with family members for Christmas lunch. Mince pies and Christmas crackers have been handed out to those less fortunate people who sadly have nowhere to go on Christmas Day, spreading some red and yellow Christmas cheer where we travel!. We are hugely grateful and extend our heartfelt thanks to several other organisations for offering assistance with our bus service this year, enabling improvements as a result... • Red & Yellow Weekend

Over the weekend of Saturday/Sunday 8/9 June 2017, we had a bumper event packed two days, visiting East Ardsley Community Gala on the Saturday, where 441 played both a static and an "In Service" role, being parked on display for the afternoon, the bus proving really popular with the kids and bringing back the memories of the older visitors! Before and after the gala, 441 provided two round trips on the 424 Morley "Shophopper" Circular, which passed by the site in East Ardsley for many years until the Black Prince business closed in 2005. This enabled guests to visit from further afield and take a bus home along a former Black Prince route. We look forward to the 2018 Gala! Thanks to the organiser for inviting us along and we were very pleased to support a superb local event with a great deal of interest in 441. On the Sunday, 441 was in action again, carrying several guests to the fantastic running day event at Heath Common near Wakefield. Our day was bathed in sunshine with temperatures soaring and a proper Black Prince picnic got underway on arrival at Heath Common. The event was very well attended by both guests and vehicles as always, 441 playing a part in the static exhibits and again a lot of interest shown in the Mercedes-Benz.

  • Visit East Ardsley gala, use the 424

On Saturday 8th July 2017, a Black Prince bus will recreate the "Shophopper" Circular 424 route between Morley Town Hall and Thorpe, serving the community gala event at East Ardsley primary school. The bus will run to the original timetable for the service, departing on the journeys as shown below. Our bus will be parked on display at the gala for the afternoon, with our fundraising badges available for purchase and the bus open to the public for photographs. Later, we depart from Thorpe to Morley at 1640 after the close of the event, with an additional journey available at 1725 from Morley Town Hall. #441 #Morley #MercedesBenz #Prisma

  • Sunday Service Success!

A huge THANK YOU to all who helped out, supported and attended our "Sunday Service" running day event in Morley on Sunday 26 June 2017... Against all the odds-and with a lot of help from our friends-we managed to put on a superb show, topped off by the sight and sound of classic vehicles on display and operating in the pedestrian area of Queen Street and regular departures of heritage buses and coaches around the town hall area.. We have had many positive reports and thanks for organising the event, such encouraging comments and well wishes certainly make the organisation of the day worthwhile and it's great to know the effort is appreciated when visitors have an enjoyable day :-) We certainly hope such an event will become a yearly mark in the calendar and offer the chance to present something different in the centre of Morley. #577 #441 #204 #Morley #ECW #BlackPrinceCoaches #Batley #MercedesBenz #BlackPrinceBuses #Prisma #Optare #Leyland

  • "Sunday Service" by Black Prince

On Sunday 25th June 2017, preserved Black Prince buses will be in squadron service on the streets of Morley, recreating scenes of the past operating over original Black Prince Sunday bus routes. Several Sunday bus services in the Morley area saw Brian's red and yellow buses maintaining the timetable between 1986, when contracts were awarded with the de-regulation (privatisation) of local bus services, until the close of business with Brian's retirement in summer 2005. Our running day will see portions of each Morley Sunday route represented, with buses serving Leeds, Batley, New Farnley, Gildersome, Pudsey, Dewsbury, East and West Ardsley, Rothwell and Oulton. There will be a chance for refreshments at every bus terminus, with each service carefully planned to terminate at or near to the entrance to a public house, which should provide a nice break in between sampling our superb selection of heritage buses! With help from our friends, we aim to deploy vehicles of an appropriate era to provide the service, with older buses of a similar type used by Black Prince several years ago actually running over the routes from the early days of Sunday services in Morley, the more modern vehicles operating the services which they would have been allocated to in the 2000's A booklet, containing some history and information about the company and the running day, with timetables and route maps included will be available to purchase shortly, with orders possible via this website, email, or collection at events prior.

  • Pin a miniature Black Prince bus to your coat or tie-our fantastic new badge collection is here!

A huge thank you to Andrew Wardman and Jack Berry for organising the design of these fantastic badges, initially representing bus 202 and bus 577. The metal pin badges look amazing in authentic red and yellow, with the 202 badge showing the bus as seen at the 2016 Skipton vintage vehicle event with 'X81' shown on the destination. We would love to expand the series, if you'd like to support the restoration of Black Prince buses, please treat yourself to a badge, all proceeds go towards the continuing maintenance of the heritage fleet!. The badges-and other Black Prince merchandise-are usually available to purchase from our vehicles at events and shows, or by contacting us using the contact form on this website. #202 #577 #MercedesBenz #BlackPrinceBuses
