A 25 year flashback-LWB377P
Making a most welcome return to Morley for the 50th anniversary of Black Prince, will be Gareth Atherton's fantastic Van-Hool McArdle bodied Volvo Ailsa B55, LWB377P.
Had time travel been made possible, by dialling in "1994" and heading for Morley, you'd stumble across a certain bus & coach family celebrating 25 years of public service!.
This silver jubilee was celebrated in style, with the adornment of LWB377P in a very fetching green and cream commemorative livery of such high quality, the livery is carried to this day.
In 2019, the Ailsa is preserved in the South Yorkshire area and Gareth has been kind enough to supply the history of the bus since sale in to preservation in 1997.
Gareth said, "377 has been out and about locally in South Yorkshire since its return to the road. Inevitably, with something that had been stood so long there would be a few problems that would surface. We plan to make several trips back to West Yorkshire in 2019. The first planned trip is to the Open Day at the Dewsbury Bus Museum on the 10th March. We are very much looking forward to that!."
We, all of us are looking forward to the sight and sound of this, one of many Volvo Ailsa type buses formerly operated by Black Prince, returning to the streets of Morley for the April 27/28 celebration!.
Thanks for your very interesting write up and contribution, Gareth.
